Boycotting World Philosophy Day

Interesting article in the NY Times. Seems UNESCO each year has an event called ‘World Philosophy Day’. Who knew. Anyway, seems after holding it in Paris, Chile, Morocco, Turkey, Russia, they decided this year to have it in Tehran. And now lots are boycotting because that country has a history of persecuting philosophers who think too freely, or at least, voice that thinking. The article’s here. Def worth reading.

  1. Unbelievable: UNESCO gave in to the protests and cancelled the events in Iran: http://andreasmoser.wordpress.com/2010/11/09/update-unesco-world-philosophy-day-in-iran-cancelled/
